What is an Artists Block Six Simple Practical Tips to Overcome artists Creative Block My Tried Tested Practical Tips
An artists blockbrings up frustrations , anger, depression and low feelings. Artists are happy when they paint some thing nice, if it doesn't work out they become irritable. With being an artist in the seventeenth year of serious art making, this would happen in my early years with art.
There were actually a lot of wrong notions, mis beliefs and negative images of artists in my mind, and also in mind of other artists. this is one of the main reasons that the artist block comes up. Like artists need to be crazy types, not well dressed, groomed artists are notloved by buyers, also that artists need to have the haggled / lost look of hungry poor depressed artist for their art to sell! Inspiration is every where, buck up and get going!
All artists during sometime or the other in their career face what
is termed as an 'Artist's Block'. What is an Artist's Block? it is the feeling
when however much you sit to make a painting you are not able to do it.Either
the motivation level is low or the environment is very busy and other demands
for the mind are more hence the artist is unable to focus on work and thus
faced with a mental block. You sit for hours and think with the colours , art materials, spread
out and many images for ideas and a blank canvas but you don't get any ideas.
1) RELAX you
are not out to win a race. It happens with all artists and after keeping away
the materials for some time this relaxation helps.
2) GET NEW EXPERIENCES
go out to a garden, visit family, or just take a pleasant drive towards the seaside.
I am sure your mind will be refreshed.
3) SEARCH FOR NEW IDEAS shuffle
and shuttle in your drawers, old magazines, pictures and greetings for
4) CONTACT ARTIST FRIENDS yes being in company of like
minded individuals helps to get new ideas and looking at their art and
discussing about their works opens up your mind. Social networking sites and artist friends like, share, comment, and you see fresh art always. Don't ever copy any ones idea , it attracts bad karma. take it and bring it to another level of creativity.
5) JUST GET UP AND GET
GOING well take the brush and attack the canvas! This is the best step, once you overcome thisfirst step all takes care of its self.
6) COLLECT OLD PAPERS and DRAWING materials. DOODLE along , this helps to bring in fresh perspectives with art.
Inspiration unlimited, my mind is always bombarded with thoughts of colours , symbols and art. These symbols keep coming up, popping up, images, and then there is such a passion to make art, it continues with tired hands, strained back and tight neck muscles...and pangs of hunger...yet the grip of the paints is too strong to let go...
Practice art daily, make small paintings, to master your art skills. Reuse old art in collages and repaint them, upcycled paintings are more loved by art lovers as they know these artworks have special energy of you. Be true to your self and your art, you will not need much inspiration, if you love your art!
